Employer description:

The company supplies computer systems, training in assistive technology, standard and specialist software and hardware for disabled computer users in education. The company also run a website for use by assessors and disability support staff at Access Centres, Universities &Colleges in order to determine &cost equipment required by students who receive support under the Disabled Student Allowance. This web site is extremely comprehensive and is constantly being updated with the latest software and technology.

Job specification:

The successful apprentice will start training in the build area. The apprentice will be required to deliver, install and configure computers in Epsom/Kingston, Sutton and Central London. This will mainly consist of loading software and hardware onto computers and associated paperwork.( Training in specialist software will be given.)

The apprenticeship role will include:

  • Answering telephone calls
  • Dealing with client's problems/requirement
  • Offering technical assistance if and when appropriate
  • Assisting administrative staff with their duties
During the apprenticeship you will be given the opportunity to gain industry recognised qualifications thereby enhancing their value to the company and your general employability.

Skills required for this apprenticeship:
  • Full driving licence essential as driving to and from customer sites is part of the daily role
  • Must have a good knowledge of both hardware and software
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work flexibly and on own initiative
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team and prioritise multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal &written communication skills
  • A DBS check will be necessary at some point during your employment
Qualifications required:

Ideally 5 GCSE Grades ( C and above)or equivalent, including Maths and English.

Training to be provided:

Systems &Networking Level 3 Apprenticeship - | 3 modules in Microsoft Technical Associate | City and Guilds certificate in IT Systems and Principles | City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in IT Professional Competence

Apprenticeship duration:

12-14 months

Working week:

37.5 hours Monday - Friday, 8: 30 - 5: 00 ( this may vary due to the demands of the job.)
