2 year programme
Cyber threats. Hacking. International terrorism. GCHQ’s Apprenticeship Programme will put you face-to-face with some of the most complex problems in the world. And over the course of two years, you’ll gain all the skills, confidence and technical know-how to solve them.
From day one, you’ll develop your skills at the forefront of technology. You’ll work with talented people and some of the most sophisticated electrical and electronic equipment out there – building our technical capability, tackling threats to national security and keeping us one step ahead of the ever-evolving digital world.
Our Higher Apprenticeship programme is based in the Cheltenham and Gloucester area, and it starts in September. You’ll undertake a mix of university-delivered education, specific technical training and work-based placements within GCHQ. These placements will see you contributing to fascinating live research and development projects. You’ll learn about everything from information assurance and software engineering to digital signal processing and data communication protocols. Your technical aptitude will be tested to the full. But you’ll be supported, trained and encouraged every step of the way.
As you progress, you’ll gain a Foundation Degree and a Level 4 Diploma in IT Professional Competence. Upon completion of the programme, there may well be the chance to undertake continued learning towards a full BSc Degree. There may also be the opportunity to take up a permanent position with us.
It goes without saying that expectations will be high. You’ll need to be motivated and technically oriented, with three, grade A-C A Levels (or equivalent) two of which must have been gained in either science, technology, engineering or maths subjects. The eagerness to learn will also be vital. And in return, along with a salary and some great benefits, you’ll get to build a challenging, rewarding and endlessly fascinating career.
Ready to test yourself? Then apply.
Closing date for applications is 26th February 2012.
Applicants must be British citizens. GCHQ values diversity and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. We want our workforce to reflect the diversity of our work.
