Description / Job role:



We are currently looking for a passionate and energetic individual to work within our very busy IT Support department supporting staff, pupils and the wider West Hatch family.



The IT Support department at West Hatch is very forward thinking. We have a number of exciting projects on the horizon including the roll out of Windows 10 and migration to Office 365. Combining these large projects with the opportunity to work with a variety of software and hardware in a diverse environment makes this role perfect to kick start your IT career.

Key responsibilities / Your main duties will be to: 



  • Check IT Suites after the last lesson each day to ensure everything is tidy and in good order. [Log, repair and replace where necessary]
  • Support teaching staff/pupils in the technical aspects of ICT including the use of their own devices
  • Assist with the installation of hardware and software
  • Support teaching staff in the day-to-day use of information management systems
  • Troubleshoot non-routine problems and carry out testing to resolve, documenting final outcome and method
  • Proactively repair any simple faults and log more complicated faults on the help desk as appropriate
  • Maintain computer files by updating/deleting information as appropriate
  • Assist staff/pupil with software and any issues they are experiencing
  • Be responsible for maintaining and updating the school website and Gateway
  • Be responsible for creating and coding ID cards for staff and students
  • Maintain the ICT disposals/scrapped equipment register and consumables stock lists
  • Maintain printers and photocopiers, replacing parts/toners where required 
  • Encrypt laptops and removable media to ensure General Data Protection guidelines are met

  • Successful experience working in specialist area in learning environment 



Desired qualifications: 



  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in specialist area 
  • 3 x GCSE (or equivalent) at grades A-C in any subject, plus GCSE English and Maths (or equivalents) at grade D or above. 



Future prospects:



92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally, there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programs offer on-going development tracks.

To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
