As a global energy business, BP leads the world in powering a cleaner, more sustainable future. And as our business is so diverse, so are the types of people we employ - from engineers and geologists out in the field, to IT professionals, research scientists, financial traders and retail workers.
Because of this, our teams come from all kinds of different cultures and backgrounds – so your career at BP is always going to be exciting, challenging and full of incredible opportunities. You’ll be joining our Information Technology and Services division (IT&S) on one of these amazing ap-prenticeship programmes.
Study for a data science degree apprenticeship
We’ve embarked on an ambitious plan to modernise and transform through digital. It means more efficiency, more effectiveness and new business models. There’s huge potential for transformation, and you’ll be at the heart of it.
You’ll get to learn new technologies, have an input on key decisions, support the team and be supported in turn, and work with everyone from business people to domain experts. You’ll help us adopt industry data standards, and deliver data management strategies and data transformation routines. You’ll collect, organise and study data to provide business insight. This will include man-aging data, as well as conducting a range of analytical studies. Essentially, you’ll use data to craft views that help us make decisions.
Your love for statistics and complex data sets already set you apart. You’ll also enjoy working with PowerBI, Tableau and Python, and telling a story from data. Whether or not you have a STEM background, you’ll be keen to learn about an exciting new field and technologies.
On our data science apprenticeship, we have partnered with the University of Kent and we’ll pay for your data science degree.
You’ll have the opportunity to take everything you learn from your studies and apply it directly to the business, which will help you develop your career as a data science professional in a world-leading multi-national organisation.
So, who are we looking for?
We believe in hiring people with the right core competencies and interest, rather than specific technical experience. That’s why we welcome applicants from a range of academic subject backgrounds. We’re looking for people who like working at-pace, love doing it right and believe that data can help drive phenomenal decision making. You will be embedded with a dynamic data-focused team, with the resources of the world's largest IT department and leading IT vendors at your fingertips. We will help you along the way but you possess a spark that drives you forward and are comfortable operating with a degree of autonomy.
