Volunteers can choose between our Journalism in Tanzania and Film Production in Tanzania projects. Through work placements and assignments in this vibrant destination a portfolio of work can be created that will prove as a showcase of your talent on your return home.

Our film production placement is located in Arusha where you will be working alongside local teachers in a youth organisation which aims to train underprivileged students in the art of film making and production. Variety is key to this project and whether your skills lie in the technical or creative aspects of film production, your knowledge and enthusiasm will be the most valuable assets.

Alternatively you could work in Dar es Salam with a team of freelance journalists on our print placement using your skills to create a quarterly production that has a circulation of 15 000 copies. Volunteers are encouraged to write about topics that both interest and challenge them and opportunities to conduct independent research will always be available.

All Journalism and Film Production volunteers in Tanzania can also contribute to ‘Voices of the World’, an online global journal that encourages 16 to 26 year olds to express their ideas and exchange their stories.

Both of these placements are worthwhile from many aspects, whether it be enhancing your CV, teaching a subject you love or seeing your own hard work published. Volunteers participating on the film production project will need to commit to a 4 week placement and have at least 1 years’ prior experience in film production, media or a closely related topic. Those interested in the print project will need to get involved for a 3 week period.
