If you are looking to further your experience in the highly competitive world of journalism, then we may have just what you are looking for in the form of our Journalism in Ghana project. Three fascinating options are available to you, either you can join one of our local publications if you are interested in print journalism or you can work at a TV or radio station if you are interested in broadcasting.
The minimum length of stay for all three programmes is four weeks, as our aim is to give volunteers an insight into the workings of the media in a new cultural and political setting. The work experience you gain with us will enhance your CV and increase your prospects when you return home.
Volunteers on our print journalism placement will experience a busy newsroom and gain the skills to cope with deadlines and exacting editors, as well as the chance to experience life at the heart of Accra.
Those choosing to work at a radio station could find themselves on air on their first or second day. Volunteers may help produce a show, read the news, participate in debates and talk-shows, or go out on the streets to ask people for their views on specific topics.
Volunteers looking to work at a television station will gain experience in reporting, scripting, producing and editing programmes. There could also be the possibility for you to present on live television or appear as part of a discussion panel.
