Joining the Journalism in Romania project gives you the chance to put together an impressive portfolio of work and improve your writing skills tremendously. The work experience that you will gain will enhance your CV and make you stand out from the crowd within the highly competitive journalism industry.

Volunteers will work for the English section of a magazine called ‘The Village’ or 'Satul' in Romanian. The magazine is published twice a year and is distributed to museums, bookshops and restaurants with a focuses on local culture, traditions and history.

Volunteers can get involved in every aspect of the magazine’s production from conducting interviews and writing articles to assisting with the editing, printing and distribution.

The journalism team are eager to encourage you to try your hand at every journalistic aspect ranging from interviewing Romanian celebrities and politicians to designing your own page layout to giving the editing or photography part a go. Basically anything goes, your ideas are your own, and it is a fantastic way of creating or adding to your portfolio. - Amy Sable

You can then pass on your new found knowledge and skills by spending some time working with a journalism club in a local school, where you will help the children develop their writing skills as they create their own school newspaper.

Volunteers can also contribute to the weekly online newspaper ‘Voices of the World’ which is a unique initiative that allows aspiring young journalists to express their views on the latest news from around the world.
