Laundry Production Operative

Working within the production department you will experience difference departments including: sorting, washing, packing and sewing of laundry. This is a great opportunity to work for a renowned family-run business with opportunities to progress

  • To load and programme the computer appropriately for the correct load and correct materials to be washed
  • To check labels for Army products to ensure they are washed and dried in accordance with the correct temperature rules
  • To sort all work correctly and appropriately into bins ready for washing
  • To liaise with the staff in charge of the washer to ensure they are aware of the loads coming through and any issues
  • To adhere to all of the manual handling training that has been provided and to carry out all duties in accordance with this training
  • To load and programme the computer appropriately for the correct load and correct materials to be washed and dried

  • To be aware of the different types of material and to ensure that these are placed down the machine at the correct speed and the correct temperature. Machine settings can ONLY be authorised/changed by a Manager or Supervisor
  • To ensure all items eg pillowcases, napkins, tablecloths, towels etc are placed onto the rollers neatly with no creasing or corners over
  • To ensure all sheets, duvet covers, towels etc are placed correctly onto the clips/bed of the machine and are checked before they go down the rollers so that each item is pressed perfectly
  • To place scrubs onto the tunnel finisher in a neat and tidy manner and to take them off at the other end and fold ready for packing
  • To press chefswear and dry cleaning/social services clothes
  • To label all social services items appropriately and place into cages/barrows for washing
  • To sort and pack social services items
  • To report any breakdown or failure of machinery to the Production Manager/supervisor and to ensure that this is logged in the maintenance book for the engineer

 

  • To adhere to all of the company rules and procedures in particular health and safety and the dress code with regard to protective material
  • To adhere to all of the manual handling training that has been provided and to carry out all duties in accordance with this training
  • To collect work from the relevant production machines
  • To prioritise work with regard to delivery/customer needs and requirements
  • To pick the items from the relevant shelf and pack them in the bags/cages in accordance with the paperwork
  • To complete the necessary paperwork to indicate to the customer how many items and which items are in the bag/cage
  • To ensure the return paperwork for the customer is in the bag/cage if needed to enable the customer to complete their next order
  • To fold and segregate all workwear garments into days ready to be scanned out
  • To sort all workwear into relevant contracts and days and to scan out each garment into a bag or cage
  • To report any breakdown or failure of machinery to the Production Manager/supervisor and to ensure that this is logged in the maintenance book for the engineer
  • To ensure the highest quality of work possible in terms of accuracy and speed to ensure production deadlines are met
  • To undertake any other duties are required by a Manager or a Supervisor to ensure the proper performance of your duties
