Overview

This advanced course covers work in a broad range of technologies, which help us to use and share information such as mobile phones, computers, broadband provision and satellite communications. 

IT and telecoms jobs are no longer just about the technology, all jobs now require good people skills, as well as the technical skills you will gain during this programme. 

If you choose to focus on telecoms, you will learn about broadband, mobile phones and satellite communications. It's a fast-moving sector, so you should have a keen interest in new technology. Alternatively, IT focuses on customer care, system security, managing software development and basic IT applications. 

Aims

This advanced course covers work in a broad range of technologies, which help us to use and share information such as mobile phones, computers, broadband provision and satellite communications. 

This apprenticeship aims to provide you with the knowledge and hands-on experience required to work as an IT professional. IT and telecoms jobs are no longer just about the technology, all jobs now require good people skills, as well as the technical skills you will gain during this programme. 

You will attend college on a day-release basis while employed and working as an advanced apprentice. 

Modules

College based Technical Certificate: Pearson Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in IT 
Work Based Learning Competence units include (evidence collected in the work place): 
- Health & Safety - Mandatory 
- Develop Own Effectiveness and Professionalism - Mandatory 
A range of units are available, evidence is collected and knowledge and understanding is documented to chosen units that relate to the particular job role being undertaken. 
- Functional Skills: English Level 2, Mathematics Level 2, ICT Level 2

Entry Criteria

5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 (A*-C) including English and Maths or a Level 2 qualification in IT at Distinction plus GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C) in English and Maths. All applicants will be interviewed. Places on the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma are subject to minimum grade requirements as well as BKSB assessments in English and Maths and free hand writing exercises to be held during the induction period.
