Our Cyber Security Technologist Level 4 Apprenticeship combines online learning, classroom training and on-the-job experience which will enable you to tackle the challenges posed by this rapidly expanding industry. This apprenticeship is an excellent fit if you are currently in a role in the IT sector and you want to specialise in cyber security or if you are new to the cyber security sector and want to advance your skills.
This apprenticeship gives you a great opportunity to develop and enhance your cyber skills, ensuring you have the technical grounding needed to become a skilled security analyst, security architect, or software tester.
On successful completion of the programme, you will gain the following qualifications:
• Cyber Security Technologist L4
A highlight of your apprenticeship will be QA’s Cyber Labs. This is an experience which immerses you in real life, cyber-attack situations in a purpose-built, controlled, facility uniquely constructed by QA. This hands on practice, held over three days, arms you with the skills to pass your programme whilst giving you an advantage over others who may not have overcome challenges like these before.
The Cyber Security Technologist will apply an understanding of cyber threats, hazards, risks, controls, measures and mitigations to protect organisations systems and people. They will work to achieve required security outcomes in a legal and regulatory context in all parts of the economy with a particular focus on security design & architecture, security testing, investigations & response.
The role of Apprentice Cyber Specialist will be a fundamental position within Cyber Operations team, a critical part of the Vodafone Cloud and Hosting Customer Operations function.
In this Operational role, you will primarily focus on Incident Response, which involves the monitoring, diagnosing, and escalating of various security threats and alerts posed to some of Vodafone’s largest clients. You will work with open source threat intelligence feeds, perform malware and network analysis and assist with Accreditation and Governance activities. It is a great role for someone who has a keen interest in Cyber Security and would like to pursue a career in the field.
You will work with operational support teams across C&HCO, as well as with our external partners and suppliers to deliver a service to internal stakeholders and external customers. In doing this, you'll constantly be working to help implement and deliver the best in class in threat mitigation and seeking to analyse the way we work to continually improve our services.
You will also play a part in maintaining the Cyber Operations SIEM offerings, striving to continuously improve the capability. You should be good at problem solving, able to work as part of a team but also under your own steam where appropriate. Ideally you will have had exposure to or knowledge of the fundamentals in the: Compute, Networking and Security areas and be looking to develop your skills and knowledge further with the support of the wider teams.
What you will need
• Have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A-C/4-9 or above (including Maths and English Language)
• Have completed your Level 3 studies (A-levels, BTEC Level 3 or Level 3 Apprenticeship) by September 2019
• Ideally a Level 3 qualification in an IT-related subject
• Be eligible to work in the UK and will not be in full-time education by September 2019
