Widen your skillset and open doors to a multitude of careers
Accounting and legal professions are increasingly intertwined and this degree will give you a grounding in both subject areas.
You’ll learn from practising lawyers, business leaders and leading academics.
Our real-world approach to teaching will give you the perfect balance of academic theory and practical experience.
We’ll help you develop the key competencies that employers value, such as collaboration, teamwork and self-awareness.
You’ll look at a range of jurisdictions around the world and gain a solid understanding of the key accounting functions.
We work with professional bodies so you’ll gain exemptions from professional qualifications as you study.
You’ll get direct exposure to hugely successful real-world lawyers and business leaders, through weekly legal workshops, termly industry conferences and an annual residential. Previous workshops and conferences have been facilitated by leading representatives from Unilever, Savills, Merrill Lynch, Direct Line Group, Holiday Extras, Atos and PA Consulting. You’ll get the chance to compete in national and international competitions and business challenges too.
What you'll study
Level 4 / Year 1
You’ll study a unique module called Principles of Business, introducing you to key business topics in the context of a real organisation, including finance, marketing, people, law, organisational behaviour and technology. You’ll then begin your specialist studies, examining the English Legal System and learning the fundamentals of accounting.
Level 5 / Year 2
The core second year modules will be evenly split between accounting and law. You’ll develop core professional accounting skills whilst also drilling down deeper into constitutional and administrative law. You will be introduced to company law and you’ll start to look at how accounting and law functions are intertwined. You’ll also have the opportunity to tailor the course to your area of interest by choosing electives from the vast array of law and business modules available across the whole business and management degree suite.
Level 6 / Year 3
In your final year, you’ll explore the myriad of regulations and directives emanating from the European Union, as well as the Dickensian complexities of the English law of Chancery, as reflected in the law of property.
You’ll complete a major project and develop your accounting skills further by looking at the realworld application of accounting and exploring how strategic financial decisions are made.
How will your work be assessed?
We use a range of methods, designed to reflect the kind of activities you may be asked to do in the workplace, either individually or as part of a team. For example, report writing, data analysis, preparing strategies and business cases and presentations.
What are the entry requirements?
Our typical UCAS tariff entry is 120 points (BBB at A level) or equivalent. However, we’re really looking for people with a passion for their subject so if you do not have the UCAS tariff points you need, or traditional entry qualifications, you can still apply through our assessment-based entry route. You’ll be invited to a Professional Workshop to see if we’re the right fit for you.
What are the fees?
Full time fees are £9,250. All students that attend and pass a Creative/Professional Workshop will be awarded a partial tuition fee waiver, up to the maximum fee loan available for the programme. The workshops are a great opportunity to meet other students and get to know Pearson Business School/Escape Studios and our fee waiver can significantly reduce your tuition fees.
