About us

Airbus is Europe’s number one Defence and Space enterprise. We work with governments and agencies around the world, including the European Space Agency and NASA, to push the boundaries of engineering and technology. Whether supporting human spaceflight missions, creating world-first satellite communication systems or building the technology that will help us to learn more about the Earth, we’re constantly innovating to provide efficient and especially sustainable solutions.

An opportunity has arisen to join the Materials Testing Laboratory in Stevenage, which forms part of the Airbus Defence and Space Engineering Department.

Our Materials Laboratory provides materials testing support and analysis to scientific programmes and telecommunication satellite programmes around the world. We are a small, dynamic multi-skilled team that work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that flight hardware meets the exacting requirements needed for the space environment. In fact, we work with around 9, 000 samples a year!

Join us on this apprenticeship and you will have the opportunity to handle and test space hardware, some of which will be used for the future Sample Fetch Return project destined to bring Martian samples back to Earth.
