To help us achieve our vision of "taking responsibility for the water environment for good" we are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineering Degree Apprentice.

As a Yorkshire Water apprentice, you will also be expected to gain technical skills and expertise, as well as developing your personal and business competencies.

What do we do?

As a department in Yorkshire Waters Asset Management business unit, Asset Integrity’s purpose is to provide a safe and reliable asset base by the application of technical and engineering expertise. The department is divided into four areas Policy, Integrity, Engineering and Delivery who work in collaboration.

The Policy team develop and maintain technical standards and treatment asset policy which are aligned to best practice Asset Management and ensure all current and future works comply with these assets standards.

Integrity undertake inspection and investigation activities to identify shortfalls and assurance that assets are fit for purpose and compliant. 

Engineering provide engineering leadership to set the direction, capability and technical assurance for the development of engineered solutions and preventative maintenance plans.

Delivery carry out investigations and deliver safe, reliable and affordable assets through the production of a portfolio of Standard products and Delivery of Engineering projects.

What will your role involve?

This role will involve working and travelling right across the county of Yorkshire. 

You'll have the opportunity to be involved with all sorts of Engineering design, investigation and project management work under the guidance of the experienced Engineers. Asset Integrity interact with other key teams and partners giving the opportunity to fulfil the scope of a Degree apprenticeship.

Projects you will have an opportunity to get involved with include: -

· Design of engineering solutions
· Investigation, problem solving and reacting to unplanned situations 
· Engineering project management of Opex and capital projects
· Inspection of current asset base to ensure regulatory and statutory compliance

This is an opportunity to learn new skills in the field of Engineering working alongside an experienced Engineering team across the whole of the Yorkshire Region.

What we expect from you? 

· Be prepared to attend University to complete all academic elements of the Apprenticeship Programme.
· To complete all work task to the best of your ability and in accordance with our policies and procedures and observe the terms and conditions of employment.
· To be an active member of the Yorkshire Water Apprentice Group, working co-operatively with other apprentices and always setting excellent standards for yourself and others
· At all times to behave in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with the Health and Safety and Equality legislation relating to the individual responsibilities and to promote and act in the Employer’s best interests.
· Be self-motivated, always willing to learn new skills and take pride in everything you do.

What Qualifications can I gain?

BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering Degree Apprenticeship. This programme will last up to 5 years and combines both University-based and work-based qualifications. 
Further study options will be considered upon completion of the programme dependent upon business requirements.

Requirements:

You must have or be expecting at least 96 UCAS points or equivalent required.
Apprenticeship candidates will typically have at least three A levels at grades A*- C including mathematics and physical science or their equivalent or will have completed a level 3 Apprenticeship as a Mechanical Engineering Technician and hold two distinctions for a BTEC National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related studies. GCSE grade C in maths and English is required to satisfy the requirements of our training provider.
