Joining our Micro-finance Project in Ghana is an ideal way to gain a unique insight into a developing country and how small-scale entrepreneurs go about starting their own businesses in such an environment.
Projects Abroad helps these individuals or groups by providing them with funding and training to give them the skills and financial help to get started. These loans are then paid back to us over time and with guidance and help fund the next set of small-scale entrepreneurs.
The actual work I did was incredibly rewarding. The other volunteers and I were tasked with helping to setup small businesses in villages that would benefit from additional income. One of the best parts of the job was feeling that we could actually make a long-term difference in people’s lives. - Matt Fahlman
This rewarding yet challenging experience will enable you to work alongside a team of professionals in the eastern region of Ghana’s Akuapem Hills. The project aims to assist the most vulnerable groups, giving them the kick start that they need in order to become self-sufficient and independent.
As a volunteer you will need to be 18 years or older and do not require you to have any previous experience, though you will be expected to undertake tasks such as reading through business plans, developing market strategies, managing loans account, conducting workshops, as well as providing general business guidance.
