HND Performing Arts

If you are dreaming of long runs in the West End, or performing to crowds at the O2 arena, you will join thousands working in the performing arts industry in the UK. Jobs as dancers, actors and singers are available across a wide range of settings including festivals, theme parks, cruise ships, as well as in schools. Our HND in Performing Arts will equip you with the skills to become a freelance performance practitioner with a focus on theatre and community arts. Projects will include taking shows on tour and delivering workshops at venues across the Midlands. Develop your professional practice and improve your movement, acting and singing skills while learning about creative arts research, workshop leadership and how to devise performances.

Course Assessment
You will be assessed through live performances, log books and evaluations, seminars and viva as well as through research projects.

Progression Opportunities
Students who have completed the course have gone on to work in film, stage and screen as well as joining cruise ships as entertainers.

Additional Costs and Information
We visit local theatres as much as we can, such as Birmingham and Leicester. You may also have the opportunity to take trips to London to see West End shows. You will be taught by industry professionals and will regularly have visits and workshops by artists and visiting professionals. If you wish we will organise for you to get real work experience at our local theatre or you might like to run your own productions/workshops in the local area. We tailor the course to what skills you want!
