We currently have over 20 apprenticeship roles to choose from, and the RAF has been rated as an Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ training provider. They are available in a broad and diverse range of careers including Aviation Operations, Engineering and IT, Hospitality & Catering, and HR.

We support all our personnel with a range of qualifications from a level 2 (equivalent to 5 GCSEs), a level 3 (equivalent to 2 ‘A’ levels) all the way through to a level 7, which is equivalent to a Masters degree.

Engineering

Cyberspace Communication Specialist

As a Cyberspace Communications Specialist you will be responsible for the technology at the heart of the RAF. It will be your job to set up, operate and maintain the technology the RAF relies on to communicate.

Aircraft Technician (Avionics)

As an Aircraft Technician (Avionics) you will keep our aircraft airborne by carrying out maintenance and repair work on the sophisticated electronic and on-board avionics.

Aircraft Technician (Mechanical)

As an Aircraft Technician (Mechanical) your job is to carry out maintenance and repair work on the airframe and propulsion systems on RAF aircraft.

Vehicle and Mechanical Equipment Technician

As an Aircraft Technician (Mechanical) your job is to carry out maintenance and repair work on the airframe and propulsion systems on RAF aircraft.

Communications Infrastructure Technician

As a Communications Infrastructure Technicians you will keep the RAF connected by setting up and maintaining essential aerial, radar and communications systems.

Weapon Technician

As a Weapons Technician you will be in charge of maintaining and managing weapons and explosives, making sure they’re ready at a moments notice. These include aircraft bombs, smart weapons, missiles, ammunition and individual weapons.

Survival Equipment Specialist

As a Weapons Technician you will be in charge of maintaining and managing weapons and explosives, making sure they’re ready at a moments notice. These include aircraft bombs, smart weapons, missiles, ammunition and individual weapons.

General Technician (Workshops)

As a General Technician (Workshops) you will manufacture and repair parts for aircraft, vehicles and specialist equipment. You will be working in specially equipped workshops and aircraft maintenance hangars.

Electrician

As an Electrician, you will be in charge of keeping the RAF fully powered. You’ll be essential in ensuring RAF aircraft are able to take off and complete their missions safely by maintaining and repairing the wide range of ground-based electric equipment used on RAF bases and whilst doing this you will become a world-class electrician.

 

Logistics

Chef

As a chef in the RAF, you will have a varied role, preparing food at five-star themed banquets one day and cooking in the field the next.

Catering and Hospitality Specialist

As an RAF Catering and Hospitality Specialist, you will work as part of our Specialist Field Catering Squadron and in Military Messes across the globe.

Driver

As an RAF Driver, you will operate many vehicle types, from cars and minibuses to cranes, articulated trucks, coaches and specialist vehicles (such as aircraft refuellers) to ensure RAF personnel, equipment and commodities are in the right place at the right time.

Supply, Storage and Distribution Specialist

As an RAF Supply, Storage and Distribution Specialist, you will be responsible for the management of RAF assets, from the receipt, storage, handling and distribution of equipment to its ultimate disposal.

Mover

As an RAF Mover, you will be responsible for planning and executing the movement of RAF personnel and cargo by road, rail, air and sea.

Flight and Operations Assistant

As an RAF Flight Operations Assistant you will provide direct support to aircrew, air traffic controllers and operations managers in a variety of roles.

 

Aerospace Systems Operator

As an RAF Aerospace Systems Operator you’ll manage some of the world’s most sophisticated sensors, communications and computer information systems to search the skies for potential threats.

 

Intelligence

Intelligence Analyst

As an RAF Intelligence Analyst (Linguist), you will interpret foreign language transmissions using state-of-the-art surveillance systems, providing vital intelligence to support military forces deployed around the world.

Photographer

As an RAF Photographer, you will play a varied range of roles, capturing everything from aerial reconnaissance images to public relations portraits.

Human Resources

As an HR Specialist in the RAF, you will enjoy a diverse, exciting and highly rewarding career. Wherever the RAF is based, there is an HR team ready to provide a professional service to personnel of all specialisations, including those in the RAF Reserve.

 

Force Protection

Regiment Gunner

As an RAF Regiment Gunner, you will specialise in infantry tactics, weaponry, field craft, and force protection. You will be part of an elite soldier team carrying out a range of crucial duties to defend RAF bases and overseas air operations.

RAF Police

As a member of the RAF Police, you will conduct criminal and security investigations. As specialists in Aviation Security, Counter Intelligence, Protective Security, Law Enforcement, Military Working Dogs, Information and Cyber Security, the RAF Police plays a critical role enabling airpower operations globally.

Firefighter

As an RAF Firefighter you will provide 24/7 fire and crash rescue protection. You will be organised and trained to respond to any emergency with highly specialised equipment like powerful cutting tools.
