What you’ll be doing

This is a mainly office-based role and includes responsibility for scheduling field engineer visits to customer’s home and business premises. There is a need to make sure available engineers are able to meet the needs of work stacks by planning and deploying the necessary cover and movement of resources.

There will be a need for technical knowledge in order to help customers and field members with enquiries and online help.

There is also an occasional requirement to get on the road to investigate and check jobs out. Strong interpersonal skills are required as the role demands lots of dialogue with internal and external customers.

It’s a role that would suit someone who is methodical and has good organisational skills. Things can get busy or even quite chaotic anybody who is well organised and good at time management is likely to succeed in this apprenticeship area. It’s a good role for those who like to be part of a bigger team.

About the training

Our apprenticeships are designed so they offer a structured programme that takes the apprentices through the skills they need to do a job well. Along the way there are targets and checks to make sure each apprentice is supported and is making progress.

Most training is delivered on the job. You will be surrounded by colleagues who are experts in their field who will deliver the learning and support to make sure you are on track and making progress. In addition time is spent at college with a local training provider to consolidate this learning in a classroom environment as you progress to achieving your apprenticeship.

The outcome of this blended learning method will be a vocational qualification for our apprentices which will be useful in their job and help them succeed in their future career.

Within BT you will receive plenty of support and encouragement, not only from your manager but also from our dedicated apprentice development team, who will help you create a personal development plan and coach you throughout the journey as you work towards your apprenticeship.

We offer a starting salary of £14,114 per annum, which is reviewed on an annual basis. Every apprentice also enjoys a great benefits package.

What do I need

Anyone in UK can apply for an apprenticeship if they’re:

 •16 or over when they start their apprenticeship

 •Eligible to work in the UK on a permanent basis

 •Not in full-time education

BT offers three levels of apprenticeship and to be eligible to apply you must have attained or be expecting to achieve:

Advanced

Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C or above including Maths and English*

Higher

Minimum 2 A levels grade C or above

Degree

Minimum 3 A levels grades BCC or above

`       *   verified equivalent qualifications accepted

The majority of our resource and service management apprenticeships are at the Advanced level with a few at the Higher level.  In addition you will need the following:

 •Full UK driving licence or passed your driving test by the time you start work with us

•Not suffering from colour blindness

•Comfortable working in confined spaces and / or at heights
