The role:

Smart Metering is may be new to you, so we'll provide you with outstanding training at one of our award-winning Learning Centers to give you the technical skills and knowledge you'll need. We'll also support you to successfully complete the Dual Fuel Smart Meter Installer Trailblazer Apprenticeship, which will set you up for success in the future. While on training we will support you with our Customer Centric mindset that all our Experts have before you are ready to go to our customers' homes, in your own fully equipped van, with the latest tablet and mobile phone at your fingertips. We'll trust you to be the face of British Gas - using your practical skills to install meters, diagnose faults and make repairs, while taking time to share your expert energy saving knowledge with our customers. Highlighting to them simple and effective ways to save on their energy usage and how Smart Metering will make their lives easier.

The person:

We're a team at British Gas that believes in being extraordinary together. Our trainees come from diverse backgrounds, yet everyone keeps things simple for our customers, takes pride in what they do and continually strives to improve their performance - individually and as a team. This maybe your 2nd or 3rd job, however our standards of Customer Service are high and as such we expect the same from you! The important stuff - please read; It's our preference that you have four GCSE's - or equivalent - at Grade C or above, preferably including Math and English. A full UK driving license (no more than 9 points) is also required, however if you have your test booked let us know. Finally, you are flexible about working evenings and weekends when required (you will get plenty of notice of your hours) The wellbeing of our engineers is paramount and to ensure they are not travelling unsafe distances, we try to keep everyone working close to home. What do we offer?

In addition to the training and qualifications gained to become a fully trained Smart Energy Expert, you will start with a salary of £12,000, which will rise to £15,000 after 19 weeks and to £18,000 after 27 weeks.

Once fully fledged your salary will rise to £24,961. On average our Smart Engineers earn a further £4,000 each year through bonuses. Overtime is available and for those who stay with our Smart operation to the end will earn up to a further £3,500 loyalty bonus.
