Software Engineer Degree Apprenticeships - London and Manchester

London: £24,385

Manchester: £22,086

To create the next generation of technology,
we need the next generation of thinkers.

At the UK Intelligence Agencies, we protect the UK from a range of threats, including terrorism and espionage. It’s fascinating work with real purpose, and it’s work we couldn’t do without our software engineers. But we understand that not everyone will have a software degree, because uni isn’t for everyone. Luckily, MI5, MI6 and GCHQ are. That’s where our degree apprenticeship comes in.

Over the course of three years, you’ll enjoy lots of unique, hands-on work that’ll challenge you every day. You’ll build and maintain some of the world’s most advanced software tech – all while working towards a BSc Honours degree. And you’ll be surrounded by supportive, like-minded people. It’s the perfect way of starting your career after secondary school or college.

As part of a vital team you’ll collaborate with colleagues, building tech that catches criminals and keeping us ahead of an ever-evolving digital world. And, taking advantage of state-of-the-art facilities, you’ll also enjoy lots of technical training, classroom learning and job shadowing. It all means you’ll get practical insights into how we use tech to keep the UK safe. Plus, you’ll earn while you learn.

To join this BSc Honours degree apprenticeship, you’ll be fascinated by tech. You’ll also have (or be expecting) three A-Levels. Two of these need to be in a science, technology, engineering or maths (STEM) subject. One A-Level will need to be at grade C or above, while the other two will be at grade B or above. If you haven’t studied A-Levels, you’ll need equivalent qualifications in STEM subjects.

While an interest in programming would be great, we don’t expect you to have fully developed skills. Instead, you just need to be keen to learn. We’ll teach you the rest. While some of the apprenticeship places are based in London, there are also opportunities in Manchester.

The UK Intelligence Agencies MI5/ M16/ GCHQ are Equal Opportunities employers, committed to reflecting the society we protect. Our recruitment process is fair, transparent and based on merit. We particularly welcome applications from diverse and under-represented groups.
