University isnt for everyone. Dont let anyone tell you it is. If you want to train to become a solicitor, you just need a spot on our Solicitor Apprenticeship scheme.
On our Apprentice program you’ll start working towards your LLB university degree alongside your day job. The six-year programme combines eight seats of work-based learning in our London office and part-time study with BPP University.
Training will take various forms during your six-year programme. On the job learning, training courses and supervisor support are just part of this. You won’t be alone on your journey. Your support network will comprise a supervisor, a Human Resources Manager, a Personal Tutor and a Student Manager. Pass all assessments and you’ll be admitted to the Roll of Solicitors, subject to the SRA’s usual checks of fitness to practice. Once you get to this point, we’ll discuss our available roles. We want to keep hold of our apprentices when they qualify, and we’ll do what we can to make that possible.
You will work in our London office, in a variety of departments such as Banking & Finance, Real Estate, Corporate and Dispute Resolution. As you progress through your apprenticeship, you will be required to produce a portfolio with examples of work you have done in your department. Examples of the type of work you will carry out are: preparing documents for a transaction, drafting a letter to a client and carrying out a piece of research.
As you progress through the programme, you will be given more responsibility, including running parts of cases and meeting with clients.
You will build a portfolio of the experience you have gained and the tasks you have completed in the workplace. You will take exams and assessments throughout the six-year programme to meet the requirements for the LLB degree. You will also be required to pass the Solicitor Regulation Authority (SRA) centralised assessment, consisting of two parts. BPP University will provide you with guidance and assistance to help you pass these assessments.
