Streetwise Environmental is looking for trainees to gain some exciting and valuable work experience, alongside essential skills needed in the job market, such as interview techniques and CV writing. Streetwise offer vacancies in 4 work sectors: ground maintenance, horticulture, refuse bin collecting, and business admin.
These 16 week traineeships are focussed on giving you a valuable work based learning experience in the environmental services, and you will receive employability coaching by one of Babington Group’s excellent tutors.
The typical duties that are expected in this environment may include:
- Horticulture – working in glass houses, planting seedlings, and learning about plant growth
- Clearing pathways in the local parks and playgrounds
- General recycling/cleaning work in the depot
- Working on bin collections, collecting general waste from private properties
- Business admin duties include faxing, filing, and redirecting calls and enquiries
The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, along with the ability to work well in a team. You must also be enthusiastic and hardworking, with a willingness to learn new skills.
This opportunity is designed to give you a valuable work based learning experience, which can lead to future employment with this company for the right learner. However, the experience you gain and the use of your own initative could lead into further education, an apprenticeship, or employment.
This work based learning placement will take place over 16 weeks. Monday to Wednesday will be work days, and education days will be Thursday and Friday.
Streetwise also offer some fantastic incentives to support their candidates which includes paid travel costs, branded personal protective equipment, and a bursary of £7 per day if eligible.
If you haven’t got your GCSE A-C in Maths and English you will work towards a Functional Skills qualification at an appropriate level. Full Employability and work skills training will help you in gaining and sustaining employment following your programme.
