Volunteers on this Teaching English in Morocco placement will be interacting with students in the Moroccan capital of Rabat. The focus is mainly on conversational English, so no formal teaching qualifications or TEFL training is needed.
French and Arabic are widely spoken in Morocco as they are the two main languages used, but there is very little exposure to spoken English. Students have a real desire to learn English in order to improve their opportunities for work in tourism, business and higher education and as a volunteer, your role will be to bring fresh ideas to the classroom and make learning enjoyable.
You will focus on improving the spoken and conversational English of the students and will need to prepare your own lesson plans and help them with their grammar and vocabulary. By introducing fun and interactive ways of learning you can improve the student’s enthusiasm and develop their confidence.
French-speaking volunteers may also have the opportunity to teach French, the language of Moroccan government and commerce.
