Our Teaching in Ecuador’s Galapagos Islands project gives volunteers a new perspective on this incredible country. The focus is on conversational English, so no formal qualifications or TEFL training is needed and you will be based in the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on the island of San Cristobal in the Galapagos Islands.
Volunteers on this project work in secondary schools alongside local staff to help improve the children’s English pronunciation. By teaching fun, inclusive lessons you can really help to develop the pupils' self-confidence and language capabilities.
In most schools you will begin as a classroom assistant, supporting the teacher in their lessons. However, as you get to know the children better and start to grow in confidence you may want to take on more responsibility.
The impact you have on the lives of the children you work with will be obvious and long-lasting, and is your chance to really make a positive contribution to the local community. It will be an experience you never forget!
