Job Placement summary
The Gosport and Fareham Multi-Academy Trust (GFM) seek to offer paid internships for the role of
‘Technical support’. We have 6 opportunities to offer.
You will work as part of the IT Support team assisting with the management and maintenance of
computers and peripherals, keeping them fully operational and up-to-date in order to deliver ICT across
schools within the Trust.
You will have a keen interest in developing your skills for working with people and IT systems and be
able over time identify your specialist skills and develop a strong competence in a broad range of
commonly used IT approaches and solutions.
The successful intern will be able to demonstrate a desire to develop the key skills and/or embark on
the first steps within a career of working within an office and administration environment for
Duties that you will develop competence across:
1. Maintenance of the GFM’s network hardware and software.
2. Use of the support ticket system to prioritise and respond to user requests ensuring that every effort
is made to meet technical support targets.
3. Support of ICT throughout the GFM with the preparation of materials, equipment and resources.
4. The training of staff and, where appropriate, pupils in the use of hardware and software.
5. Decommissioning and disposal of obsolete equipment and the roll out of new IT equipment and
6. The auditing, recording and monitoring of software, associated licences, hardware and consumables
7. To research available IT products and services and match these against user requirements and to
prepare software and hardware requisition orders under the direction of senior colleagues.
8. Contribute to the administration and development of the GFM’s intra, inter and extranet websites.
9. Such other duties as may reasonably be allocated within the purview of the post by senior colleagues.
As an employee of the GFM Multi Academy Trust, you may be required to work some of your contracted
hours at other schools within the Trust as deemed reasonable and subject to the needs of the
establishments within the Trust.
