In addition, our employees benefit from a competitive reward package and a wide range of staff benefits.The I.T. section of Holyrood Digital Services provides technical support for all I.T. and Audio/Visual equipment used by the two Schools based on the Holyrood Campus.We are a proactive and reactive team, developing services for the Schools as well as providing advice and responding to faults and issues.The successful applicant will join a small, friendly, team of IT professionals.You will be providing support to staff and students in both Schools based on the Holyrood campus via electronic means (email, remote control) as well as over the phone and in person.
No two days will be the same .One day you can be commissioning and deploying laptops to new members of staff, another you could be organising the ecologically friendly disposal of old equipment.You may need to help soothe the nerves of a stressed academic while we are fixing a fault on the display equipment in a lecture theatre, followed by helping us determine the specifications for new audio/visual equipment in a dance studio or gym.
Customer services skills
I.T and A.V hardware fault diagnosis and repair techniques
Use of standard software packages and diagnosis of problems
Industry standard support techniques for IT services (ITIL), and managing incidents through a call logging system
Developing I.T and A.V services in a diverse environment
Use SharePoint as the web-based collaborative platform favoured by the University
24 Month Contract
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and flexible, and able to adapt their approach depending upon circumstances
Working understanding of computer operating systems and standard software packages (Microsoft Windows & Apple Macintosh)
willingness to participate in a Modern Apprentice programme
Able to work as part of a team and complete tasks with general levels of supervision
Able to communicate with others
Have the ability to know when to ask for assistance/guidance
good sense of humour
Monday - Friday 9.00am until 5.00pm
GBP 17,046 per annum
