This is a fantastic opportunity for 3 ambitious individuals to begin their career in Engineering and work alongside experienced industry professionals. We have 3 openings across our engineering disciplines.

Consider your interest, whether it is in a structural, civil or a marine environment.

Each year we seek the best school leavers to join us in our growing business on a ‘learn as you earn basis’.

HOP can offer the right candidate sponsorship through University, via day release, leading to a HNC & BSc/BEng/MSc in Civil Engineering, then on to Chartered Engineer status.

Why should you apply?

If you are passionate about beginning your career in Civil, Structural or Marine Engineering and are conscious of the advantages of combining formal study with practical experience, then this is the ideal positon for you.

By bringing together formal education & full time employment, Trainees are able to supplement formal learning with real life experience, with support and mentoring from senior technicians and engineers.

Role Outline

During the 2 year HNC you begin as a trainee technician providing assistance to engineers and senior technicians, as you progress through the 2 year HNC and develop within HOP you will be encouraged to take more responsibility for your drawings and develop into a more senior technician role.

The 4 year degree is effectively a continuation of the HNC and will build upon what you have already learnt. A similar approach is taken at HOP where by you further develop your drawing skills.

An important point to note is that drawing ability is a vitally important tool for engineers at any level. The experience gained through a technician role at HOP greatly contributes to your problem solving ability and understanding of how structures are built / connected together, an important part of engineering.

2016 HOP Trainee ‘After GCSEs and A Levels I was keen to get out of full time study for a bit, but also wanted to focus on working towards a career. The training program has been perfect in combining real work with university education.

Everyone here is always happy to help with any questions you might have, and it is brilliant learning from their experience. It’s great being able to apply what I learn at Uni into work the very next day!’
