On this programme, you’ll learn how the Army’s troops, tanks and attack teams communicate effectively with each other in combat. You’ll maintain the networks and technology we need to do this. It’ll be your role to repair and manage digital and satellite systems, computer networks and terminals. You’ll also deal with wireless and internet-based networks. And we’ll expect you to master recognised software packages.
As a highly trained soldier, your skills will be in great demand as you set up, operate and maintain communication networks – both in the UK and on the battlefield, wherever it may be.
Skills you can learn:
You’ll learn the kind of advanced computing skills that allow you to set up, operate and repair the communication networks we use on the battlefield. Together with your Royal Signals team, you’ll also help create and manage digital exchanges, video links and networks. We’ll help you to master software from leading companies and learn to configure internet networks.
Qualifications you should have:
GCSE grade C in English Language, Maths and Science/ICT
Qualifications you can achieve:
- Foundation and Advanced Apprenticeship – Information Communication Technologies
- NVQ Level 2 in IT
- City and Guilds Diploma for IT Practitioners and Advanced Diploma for IT Practitioners
- Variety of driving licences
- Level 2 Key Skills in Application of Numbers, Information and Communication Technology
- Membership of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
