On this programme, you’ll learn how to produce the geographic information commanders need to read their surroundings and plan missions effectively. You’ll compile and manage this data from a variety of sources. And we’ll look to you to offer a detailed analysis of combat terrain, by accessing advanced IT and geographic information systems.

Skills you can learn:
Our basic training teaches you soldiering skills, like how to survive outdoors and how to fire weapons. After this, the Military Engineer (Combat) course prepares you for life in the Royal Engineers. You learn to lay and clear mines, place demolition charges and build water crossings. You also learn about construction. Finally, you’ll train to become a Geographic Support Technician.
Qualifications you should have:
- Regulars need three GCSEs at grade C or above in Maths, English Language and one other. Reservists require professional qualifications.
