SPECIAL OFFER: £1000 reduction for Latin America 4-5 month placements!

We currently offer unique experiences working in Ecuador’s Andean cloud forest. These placements offer volunteers a varied role working with a community of 64 families that have formed an association to preserve their environment, promote ecotourism and produce local products. Broadly-speaking, as a volunteer you will have two roles.

As English language skills are key to the economic survival of the community, one of your main responsibilities will be to teach English to adults and children in the village school. The second side to your role will be conservation-focused. Volunteers help with orchid and bromeliad identification and preservation, sowing, reforestation, clearing pre-Inca trails, harvesting and anything else related to the maintenance of the community’s organic garden. These are excellent placements for independent and outdoorsy volunteers interested in learning to live in harmony with the environment.

All volunteers will live with a host family whose son or daughter is volunteering in the UK. You will therefore be included in all family activities and it is an excellent opportunity to be part of the Ecuadorean way of life. Living with a family is also the best way to learn Spanish and when you leave you will have gained a second mum, dad, and brothers and sisters who you will never forget.

Ecuador is a country that has it all. From Andean peaks, Amazon Rainforest, indigenous markets, colonial towns, beaches and a chain of volcanic islands full of fascinating wildlife it really does have something for everyone. The colonial Spanish influences are evident throughout the country, particularly in the stunning cities of Quito and Cuenca, but once you step out of the cities and into the villages you will get to experience the Native American cultures that still flourish in the Amazon basin. Volunteering placements in Ecuador provide a real opportunity to make a difference to the lives of the children in Ecuador and giving them the ability to speak English will transform their lives.

Please note: a basic knowledge of Spanish (or a willingness to learn!) is required for these placements.
