Volunteer in Thailand – Wildlife Rescue in Thailand
- Gap Year
- Gap Year
- Voluntary and Charity
Join Pod Volunteer to care for monkeys, bears and other wild animals living onsite at a tropical wildlife sanctuary.
Volunteering overseas is a great way to enhance your CV since it shows potential employees that you are not afraid of working hard, taking on new challenges and working in new environments. You do not need to have specific qualifications or experience to join our placements as relevant training will be offered whilst at the project.
How can I help?
You will join a dedicated local team in providing care for over 20 rescued elephants who reside at the centre. Although each day varies, your volunteer role generally includes preparing and distributing good, cleaning the enclosure and creating enrichments for a variety of the animals at the centre.
You may also be involved in the construction or maintenance of enclosures, cleaning or developing the centre grounds / farmland, assisting with visitor tours and education.
There are actually two volunteer roles available at the same sanctuary; Elephant Care and Wildlife Rescue. You are welcome to specialise in one role, or apply for both and spend time with the wildlife as well as the elephants on site.
When can I join?
Any Sunday throughout the year for 1-12 weeks
Where will I be living?
You will be living on-site at the centre, based in volunteer accommodation which is located a short walk from where you will be working. Accommodation is basic and being located on-site in an animal rescue centre within a tropical environment, it’s a challenging environment for maintenance and cleanliness.
In your free time, you can explore the nearby national parks, enjoy a day at the spa in the local village or visit the bigger towns of Hua Hin or Cha Am where you can enjoy the night markets, restaurants and bars. Alternatively, you can just relax with other volunteers in the open communal area where there is a bar, snacks and smoothies.
Volunteer placements start from £645 for 1 week. This includes accommodation and all main meals + planning your trip support from the Pod team.
