WHAT DOES THIS JOB INVOLVE?

We’re in need of an enthusiastic and talented budding web developer to join our team of friendly developers. The company builds modern best practice web applications for a range of clients based in the UK and North America, across TV, travel and sports. The role will be primarily developing new projects and continuing to add features for ongoing projects. You will be working with the in-house team which is growing fast. We have some exciting projects on the go and starting so it’s a great mix of work. The main technologies we use are PHP, HTML, CSS, SASS and Javascript. You will be expected to work comfortably on any of these from day one. On completion of this apprenticeship the candidate will have gained valuable skills and experience that could then be transferred straight on to the workplace.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

  • Developing new projects and continuing to add features for ongoing projects.
  • Working with smaller to mid-size campaign websites.
  • Pushing barriers and having a bit of fun on jobs with a fast turn around.
  • Learning and becoming familiar with company software.
  • Continually learning web development duties and skills.
  • Continuous projects.
  • Answer, screen and transfer inbound telephone calls, take and pass on relevant messages and present an excellent image of the company in doing so.
  • Resolve administrative problems and enquiries and give written and oral responses to routine enquiries received from external parties.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures on Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities and undertake relevant training in these areas to ensure competence and compliance.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably required by the purview of the post.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BE GOOD AT?

Our client would be particularly interested in candidates with/who are;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Skills in problem solving, organisation and planning
  • IT Literate; proficient with Microsoft office applications proficiency, especially Word & Excel
  • Minimum GCSE Grade of C in Maths and English
  • Flexible, hardworking and organised individual who can work efficiently under deadlines.
  • A creative flair and good attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All you need is EEWAP – Energy, Enthusiasm, Willingness to Learn, Ability to Take Feedback and Propensity to Take Action.

You’ll also need to pass a face to face screening interview with our Employer Partnerships team (don’t worry, we’re a friendly bunch) and sit initial assessments in Maths and English.

Every week, Tech City Stars puts on an awesome event where employers come to meet a group of young people who are full of #EEWAP and who are looking for apprenticeships. The event lasts a full day, and every candidate gets the opportunity to meet and impress a group of awesome businesspeople who are looking to hire apprentices. After the event, employers invite successful candidates to work trials in their offices, and if that goes well – hey presto – YOU’RE AN APPRENTICE!
