With a 35-year history of success, Year Out Drama is designed for young people who want to experience a structured, challenging and high quality gap year immersed in practical theatre work.
Run with a unique theatre company feel, students are encouraged to explore and develop a wide range of skills through practical workshops, classes, extended projects and performances.

One of the key objectives is also to encourage students to develop their own individual creativity and to provide a platform for them to workshop or perform their own work in an informal, or more formal basis.

The course runs for 35 weeks and offers an average of 40 hours per week tuition. The schedule is flexible and responsive, with students encouraged to work with energy, commitment and enthusiasm as a company of like-minded individuals. In addition to developing theatre-based skills, students grow in self-confidence, maturity and independence whilst being part of a supportive ensemble.
The audition process:
Selected applicants are invited to attend a comprehensive audition and interview to determine both their suitability for the course, and to give applicants the chance to gain a feel for Year Out Drama and an insight into what the course would offer them.
