Aldi Store and Logistic Apprenticeships
We’re not like other retailers. If you have the drive, commitment and grab-life-by-the-trolley-handles attitude, every day can be amazing here. As an apprentice, you’ll learn the ins and outs of Aldi – one of the fastest-growing retailers in the country. It’s hands-on, practical work combined with theory, as you progress towards a qualification and a permanent position in our business. We’re not going to lie, this is hard work, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. And with opportunities in Stores, Logistics and Driving, there’s more than one way to succeed here. You just have to want it.
Well, we’re a supermarket that’s getting it right. The Grocer’s ‘Grocer of the Year’ (2016), we’ve just opened the doors to our 700th store. You’ll also find thousands of Aldi stores across the world from Germany and Hungary, to Switzerland and Slovenia. But, without the hard work and commitment of our people, it would be a very different story. That’s why, as Matthew Barnes (our CEO), puts it: we’re dedicated to being the best supermarket employer in Britain.
And we’re not just talking about pay and benefits here (although these are excellent). It’s a cultural thing. There’s a real sense of clarity: everyone knows what’s expected of them and they can see how their efforts fit into the bigger picture. We’re also very responsible, always treating our people with decency and respect. Progression is based on merit and it’s easy to see how you can achieve personal success. And, perhaps more importantly, we’re really open. Open to fresh ideas and new perspectives that will help us to become even better. It’s a fantastic place for young people who are willing to work hard and learn from the very best.
You might be surprised to learn that some of the most successful people in retail today started off as Apprentices. It’s all about spotting potential and providing the right people with the right environment to develop a practical, usable skillset. With hard work, ambition and the ability to apply yourself to any challenge, you could make it all the way to Store Management.
This three-year programme gives you a rare insight from some of the industry’s most talented people. You’ll learn all about how our products get from suppliers to our customers’ shopping baskets, and work your way towards a Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Warehousing and Storage. It’s a fascinating process, with lots going on, but you’ll discover all the techniques to take on this rewarding challenge. And, with a structured career path, you’ll be well on the way to becoming a success within our business. In fact, for the best in class, there are opportunities to join the Aldi Logistics Management team. Not bad.
To get on the Drivers Apprenticeship at Aldi, you’ve got to be pretty good behind the wheel. (After all, you do need a full and clean UK Driving licence.) But we’re also just as interested in how driven you are. Because to really succeed, you have to grab every opportunity that comes along. If you do, you’ll get some of the best people in the industry teaching you, and be well on your way to starting a career packed with rewarding moments. We have great camaraderie here, and give our people (yep, even our Apprentices) bags of responsibility. But if you like that, then you’ll fit right in. And if all’s gone well, you’ll have a Category C + E licence at the end of the year, and be offered a permanent role in Aldi.
