Apprenticeships at Solent University
Solent University offers a diverse range of industry-focused courses. A key part of our portfolio is the higher degree apprenticeships, which are the new ‘next generation apprenticeship’ that are available for all levels and all ages of staff in employment. It allows you to upskill and help businesses grow, and what’s more, is that it is all paid for by the government and the employer.
Here at Solent University, we have an established set of teaching resources and qualified staff to support your learning. At peak times our library is open 24 hours a day and we have a wealth of online and offline resources over a variety of subjects free for student use. Our library staff offers award-winning service and support, so if you haven’t studied for a while, they’ll be able to assist you.
We’re also very proud of our student support resources – with our online guide, succeed@solent, helping students with academic writing, time management, research skills, presentations and more; this is particularly useful if you’ve been out of education for a while.
Our practical way of teaching complements the new generation of apprenticeships, with our academics often having industry experience which they apply to their teaching.
With over twenty higher degree apprenticeships from business to engineering and nursing to construction, there should be something for everyone. Our ‘next generation apprenticeships’ are for all degree levels and for all ages. Our apprenticeships currently include degrees in the following subjects:
- Data analysis
- Digital and technology
- Electronic engineering
- Leadership and management
- Healthcare and nursing
An apprenticeship will give you an opportunity to develop new skills and progress within your industry. You’ll be studying whilst working, so you’ll be able to apply your academic study to on-the-job learning. The qualifications that you receive will be recognised at the same level as if you achieved them through traditional study routes as they are linked to our degree portfolio so you can get that HNC, BA, BSc, BEng, MA, MSc or MBA you’ve always dreamed of, without compromising your career.
Sophie Renyard, an experienced manager who studied on Solent’s Chartered Manager (Degree) apprenticeship said: “This course has given me the confidence to excel in my role, mentor employees and help them to set their own targets that they can exceed.”
