About

WCG (formerly Warwickshire College Group) is the largest college training provider for apprenticeships in the Midlands, training in the region of 2500 apprentices each year and working with more than 1100 employers from large global organisations to small local businesses.

WCG has 7 colleges across Warwickshire and Worcestershire, at Royal Leamington Spa, Warwick Trident, Rugby, Moreton Morrell, Pershore, Evesham and Malvern Hills. The colleges are able to deliver apprenticeships in a wide range of professions, from agriculture and horticulture to automotive engineering and dental nursing.

Each WCG college has its own unique feel, specialising in work-based learning subjects which have become highly attractive for prospective students who are ready to take on education and practical experience through the apprenticeship programme.

As a trailblazer training provider, WCG worked on the development and introduction of new ‘Apprenticeship Standards’ with national giants, such as Jaguar Land Rover, and as a result is one of the largest training providers for higher level apprenticeships, right up to Honours degree level.

Apprentices with WCG have the opportunity, in a number of professions, to progress from Level 2 (Intermediate) right up to highly skilled Level 6 (Degree), making apprenticeships a truly career-spanning progression pathway for many people.

The college group has an excellent track record of high-quality training, recently celebrating their 76 per cent apprenticeship success rate, well above the 67 per cent national average.

What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a real job with training. You can earn while you learn, usually in college for one day a week or on block release from your employer. You will get a recognised qualification while being paid a wage by your employer.

What's more, you can do an apprenticeship in a variety of subjects - making it a great option if you want to learn valuable skills and gain knowledge that employers want you to have, all while gaining a solid foundation of real full-time work experience.
What are the benefits of an apprenticeship?
- Working alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills
- Earning with minimum pay of £4.15 per hour, although many apprentices earn more than this
- Developing transferable skills that can be used across a range of jobs and industries
- Enhancing future career prospects
- Building your confidence
- Degree apprenticeship progression opportunities
What age can you complete an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are available to anyone aged 16+ and over.
