Digital Product Manager Apprentice

Employer description

Iress is a global company with offices in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.

Businesses and people across the globe use Iress software to harness the power of technology to enable a smarter financial system that delivers more for everybody. We believe technology should help people perform better every day. Since our beginning in 1993, people across financial services have trusted us to take their performance to the next level - from the world’s most iconic financial services brands to advice firms of all sizes, banks, insurers, investment managers, traders and brokers.

Overview:

We are looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice to support the team behind Iress - The Exchange, a market-leading software platform that thousands of UK financial advisors rely on every day to help people with some of the biggest decisions of their lives.

This isn't about making coffee or filing papers. This is a genuine, hands-on role where you will learn the craft of Digital Product Management from the ground up. You'll be part of a dynamic team, helping us improve and shape the future of a product that powers a huge part of the UK's financial services industry.

If you are fascinated by technology, love solving problems, and are ready to kick-start your career, this is the opportunity for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Become a product expert (from a user's view) - by actively using The Exchange platform to understand the goals and challenges of our users (financial advisors).
  • Support user and market insight activity - by analysing customer feedback, taking notes in client meetings, and helping the team stay informed on market trends.
  • Contributing to product delivery - by assisting in the definition of new features (e.g. writing user stories) and performing hands-on testing to ensure high quality before release.
  • Ensuring clear team communication - by creating product documentation, writing release notes for new features, and helping to coordinate key meetings throughout the product lifecycle.

Desirable skills:

We are hiring for potential and attitude, not experience. We believe the best product managers come from all walks of life. The ideal candidate will be:

  • Naturally curious: You love asking "why?" and are genuinely interested in understanding people and the problems they face.
  • A logical problem-solver: You can think about a problem in a structured way and enjoy coming up with practical, creative solutions.
  • A clear communicator: You can explain your ideas clearly, whether you're speaking or writing things down.
  • Adaptable and well-organised: With the ability to work on multiple tasks at once and adjust effectively to changing priorities.
  • Open to feedback & eager to learn: You see feedback as a gift and are motivated to learn new skills. You're coachable and resilient.
  • A collaborative team player: You are happy to get involved, support your teammates, and work together towards a common goal.
  • Fascinated by technology: You are an active user of apps and technology and are interested in how they are designed and built.

Entry requirements:

Entry requirements for this programme are as follows:

  • Level 3 Qualification (Apprenticeship/1 x A Level in any subject/BTEC etc.)
  • OR equivalent work experience (typically 2 years in a relevant role)
  • PLUS
  • 5 x GCSE’s including English & Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above .

Working hours:

Our working hours are 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, plus an hour for lunch. The expectation is that a minimum of 3 days per week are spent in the office (60% of working week).

Company perks:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and 8 paid days per year to extend your weekends. 3 days’ leave per year for charity initiatives. Additional incremental leave to recognise tenure.
  • State-of-the-art offices with free on-site gym in our central Cheltenham office.
  • Casual dress, flexible work policy.
  • Access to learning and development programs through LinkedIn learning.
  • Access to health insurance benefits and benefits platform.
  • Enhanced maternity leave.
  • Pension contribution - matched up to 5%.
  • Employee assistance programme.

Future prospects:

Upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, you can look forward to transitioning into an Associate Product Manager role. In this position, you will support the wider product management and delivery teams on the products you will be responsible for, playing a key role in their ongoing success.

Important information:
The deadline for applications is Monday 4th August. However, we encourage early applications, as this role may close ahead of the advertised deadline if we receive a high volume of interest.
