Am I eligible for an apprenticeship?

Hello, I am a 33 year old US citizen currently on a Tier 4 dependent visa but will be switching to a Tier 2 dependent visa. I have been working outside of the UK so I haven't been physically present, however, my wife has been here continuously for four years. I would like to go into a career in heritage conservation and my question is: Would I be eligible to do any apprenticeships in traditional building skills/heritage preservation? If not, are there any apprenticeships at all that I would be eligible for? It wouldn't even be a problem doing an apprenticeship without pay, because my primary concern now is developing the skills for this field. Thank you for your time.

    Hi Evan

If you have been resident within the EU then it's possible that you would be eligible for an apprenticeship. The further difficulty is that (due to your age) you would not attract any government subsidy towards the cost of your training course!
