Am I too old for an apprenticeship

Hi I would love to get involved with an accountancy apprenticeship, am I too old to become an apprentice at 25? Thanks

    Hi Sean

    You are definitely eligible to do an apprenticeship as there is no upper age limit. The difficulty is that an employer would only get a training subsidy of up to 40% (depending on the job sector) for someone of your age. For 16 - 19 year olds 100% of the training fees are paid by the government.

    Your best bet might be to try to get a junior position within an accountancy firm (maybe via a temp agency) and then impress them so much that they decide to fund your training!
