Do I qualify for an apprenticeship as a Italian british dual national living in Italy

Good morning. As written in the title I'm an italian British dual national, age 22, with a Liceo diploma (equivalent to A levels) looking to start a new life in Britain. My ideal apprenticeship would be in cooking /culinary arts but by reading the UK government site it say that to apply to an apprenticeship you need to be resident in the UK. As I'm living in Italy, I'm not sure if I qualify for the job or not. If I move to my grandparents house in London, would that work? Thanks and looking forward to reading your advice.

    Hi Alex

You are certainly eligible to start on an apprenticeship in the UK. In practical terms I think it would be difficult (if not impossible) to start making applications from Italy.

My feeling is that you should move here if you are serious about this.

One thing that you can do is identify a training provider who deals with many vacancies in your field of interest and speak to them by telephone or via email to check how they do things. This is quite easy to do when you know how. You see, each advert on the Find an Apprenticeship web site provides contact details for the training provider who helps that employer with recruiting their new apprentices. So with a little research you should be able to identify one or two major providers to speak to!

    Hope that helps
