Hi, I'm 19 and have a ten month old daughter. I have a full set of GCSE's and A-levels in Biology, Photography and English Literature. Just before going on maternity leave I finished an apprenticeship in Customer Servies that allowed me to work for a local college for a year which I really enjoyed. I really want to get back to work, but I don't want to sell myself short and would like something with training opportunities that could work around my circumstances. Any help please? Thanks!

    Hi Chloe

In your situation you will have to be fairly pragmatic about seeking employment. Try applying for positions that would build on your apprenticeship experience.

You never know what further training opportunities might arise once you have got yourself inside an organisation that takes investing in their workforce seriously.

You should ask at your local Job Centre Plus office about any special schemes for young mums in your local area. There may not be but its definitely worth enquiring! Also ask them about any benefits you may be entitled to when you're in paid employment.
