What is the best way of getting into marketing?

I have just finished my AS levels at college and was thinking about getting into the marketing industry. But I don't know where to start. I have done some research, for example, you would likely be starting off in sales and work your way up to marketing, and you don't have to have a degree to get into marketing. I'm not entirely sure if this is true or not but I was thinking about possibly skipping uni and going straight into a job or 'learn while you earn' kinda thing? But I think I'd like to get some form of qualification but also earn money. Or possibly being an intern somewhere, but would love to travel for a little bit to get experience! I am just finding it really tricky where to start and what information to research, please may you help. Thank you.

    Hi Amy

There are plenty of firms who take people on as trainees in marketing straight from school. Often this is part of an apprenticeship at level 2 or 3. So it would be realistic for you to consider applying around this time next year. The better paid apprenticeships are the level 3 or "advanced" ones. These often demand 2 or 3 A levels at A-C grades.

You can look at examples on the Find an Apprenticeship site. Just use the keyword "marketing", set the level and choose the distance from your home address or choose "England" to see all current vacancies.

Let me know if I can be of any further help.

    Regards

    Chris
