What options are available?

Hi, I am writing on behalf of my partner. He is 24 years old and is considering his options. He did not gain any GCSE's at school but has since gained a Level 2 in Maths, English and IT and a Level 1 in Social Care. He has a CSCS card and is currently employed as an industrial cleaner. We are looking for some advice on his options in relation to apprenticeships. I understand as he is 24 the employer will not receive government funding for his training, therefore we would have to self-fund. This is not an option if he can find an apprenticeship that will advance his career prospects. He is interested in manual work and is willing to try anything new. I am just wondering what opportunities are available for him and where to start looking. Thanks.

    Hi Kim

I'm not really sure what you're asking. Has he ruled out self funding?

    Hi Kim

Thanks for clarifying. He should use the search system at the Find an Apprenticeship site to check out apprenticeship vacancies within your local area.

He should concentrate on the intermediate level apprenticeships as they do not require loads of GCSEs.

It might be worth experimenting with the "Browse" option on there. It's a good way to explore different possibilities.

Also, check out this guide to finding apprenticeships:
