Arboriculture

Start an apprenticeship in tree surgery or arboriculture and develop your skills working in the garden centre, landscape design, forestry, woodland management or timber industries. Arboriculture is “the production and management of trees and woody plants where amenity is a primary objective” (Arboricultural Association).

Apprentices in this sector are usually directed to undertake Level 2 work based NVQ qualifications which cover activities such as tree planting, tree surgery and inspection, use of machinery and powered equipment like chainsaws, strategic land use planning, project management and tree-related consultancy.
