Information Management Apprenticeships
Information management (IM) is the collection and management of information from one or more sources. Information Management apprenticeships provide great
opportunities for people who want to develop skills in IT-related areas and develop a career with a technical focus. You will learn to find and collate data, manage its
storage and retrieval and keep it secure.
As an apprentice in information management there are three broad competencies you can choose from under the general IM banner: IM Service Management, IM Infrastructure Services (hardware and operating systems), and Libraries, Archives, Records and Information Management Service. These roles require slightly different skills and abilities so you'll need to decide which matches most closely your desired career before applying.
Many IM roles require providing a 24/7 service, so there may be a requirement for shift work.
The range of opportunities is getting larger every year: think of all the institutions and businesses where data is produced on a large-scale, everything from public services like government, hospitals, educational establishments etc. through to commercial enterprises and financial companies.
